And so it came to be. The year 2002! Who woulda ever dreamed back in '68 that this far distant time in a different millenia would suddenly be today! SHEESH! I was born in 1952 meaning...... THE BIG 5-0! NO WAY! IT CAN"T BE TRUE! Well, we gotta coupla months yet..... so let's see what has been going on lately.... not much! Actually, it has been a year frought with rather unhappy events. Oh well they must be chronicled nonetheless. | |

It is January. It is Utica. It is cold. It is FOOTBALL! Play-off fever in the city of SILVER and BLACK. After an up and down season, the Raiders are in the post season again. BUT, in what has to be one of the most controversial games in the history of the NFL, WE WUZ ROBBED in a raging blizzard in the northeast! What a crappy call! INCOMPLETE PASS MY COOLEY! I and the RAIDER NATION screamed FUMBLE at 11:35pm that fateful Saturday night..... we had won the game.....and then sat dumbfounded for weeks on end as New England claimed the Super Bowl. What a travesty!
Where did February and March go? Winter of '02. It left us with the least snow in recorded Utica history! And I got DSL so I was even more riveted to this old computer! HAHAHA
Well, it had gotten to be months since the last road trip, and here in April it was time to go. Me and my brother and Pete climbed into the old car and drove southward to Pennsylvania for three days of fun and frolic
How could we not stop off at the Spectrum! One time home of the hated Flyers! Do we care any more Cal, now that Lindros is a Ranger! | ![]() | YO ROCKY |
Need we say anymore! How can Philadelphia not be synonymous with the ever-incredible Jim Fromalbini and Karen! So we had a great visit with our Upper Darbyites. | ![]() | Hey Gordon! MEOW! |
I did always wanna see Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. They were in Philly, and maybe harkening back 30 years, it was something to behold at moments. Gosh oh golly they looked so old. Well they are! SHEESH. | ![]() | Well Mart, ya missed him again |
Our niece Kelly went to Drexel for four years and now lives near the city center. So we went with Jim to some Italian restaraunt and visited with Kelly on a rainy Philly Saturday. | ![]() | What was that thing I had for dinner? stuffed shells, soft shells... |
And on the way home why not visit Eddie Maghamez! It has been a few years and so we turned off at Shavertown!??! in the snow, sleet, rain, whatever and told Pete stories. Oh yeah, Pete was with us. | ![]() | Dogs Part Two with a real dog |
One of the main reasons for taking the trip was a huge Porsche show in Carlisle. Well we drove out there early Saturday morning and was met by a sea of Chevy's or whatever. Unfortunately, the Porsches were in Hershey. Missed by fifty miles. And on the way home let us stop and visit Al in Binghamton. Hadn't seen Al in 3 years, another disgruntled ex-diocesan employee. The tape recorders were not rolling! Hey Mark ya goof! Glad to here everything is OK! Hahah! Al declined to have his picture taken. And then back to Utica! The End.
It's May so it must be SPIDERMAN!!!
Hey! A May greeting to everybody out there! I have never seen Utica look so neat and GREEN! Just got back from seeing SPIDERMAN:THE MOVIE with Duff,Daniel and Caitlyn and it was INCREDIBLE! The web-slinging in New York City rivaled the wonders of those Lee-Ditko classics of yore! And was that the ever delightful Maureen starring as MJ? A splendid time was guaranteed for all! Journey forth to Ravenswood for all your spider needs.
On one of our many trips out west, while enjoying the wonders of Baskin-Robbins one night with Lenny, it was a strange happening! Filming in the streets of Covina! huh? Some new TV show was based in downtown Covina and we happened to stroll thru the shooting! I thought it rather interesting and learned the show was named ROSWELL! Upon returning home, I had to watch it and was hooked! What a show! And now three years later, after becoming the single bit of non-sports tv watching, it was canceled! What a disappointment!
Brings us to Memorial Day 2002. A day to remember and to acknowledge a very good friend of me and my brother. He passed away two weeks ago.
